The Garden Route is located along South Africa’s east coast between Cape Town and Durban. The area consists of a series of upmarket recreational towns along the sea. In the heart of this region lies Plettenberg Bay, which is widely considered to be the country’s best holiday destination. The first Portuguese explorers in the region fittingly named this most spectacular region, and the jewel of the Garden Route, ‘Baiha Formosa’ (beautiful bay). Endless crispy and white beaches, surrounded by the majestic Outeniqua mountain range, make “Plett” an unforgettable experience.
You will stay in a exclusive villa with swimming pool, with 5 surf spots in walking distance. This luxurious lodging can accommodate max. eight people per week. The Villa is composed of four double suits with private bathrooms. Guests also have access to a fully equipped kitchen and a living / dining room, free wifi. There are several stores and restaurants in close proximity. This accommodation is perfect for couples and families alike.
This part of the South African east coast features a huge variety of world-class breaks incl. the famous J-Bay. There is an ideal beach for beginners just a short walk from the villa, and surf conditions can be easily checked from the comfort of your own room. Plettenberg Bay is a large, protected bay with a wide diversity of beach breaks and depending on conditions offers a sand floor point break. You will surf completely unpopulated waves and share these only with large dolphin schools visiting the coast. The experienced staff at the International Surf School, founded by us in 1998, will assist you during your surf lessons. We will make sure that you will be at the best surf break of the day, depending on conditions and your surfing ability.

Surf season: Plettenberg Bay is ideally located for surfing all year round, for all levels of surfer. Advanced surfers wishing to take on the challenge of the more critical point breaks in the area, might prefer the bigger and more consistent winter swells from May to October. There is always a safe and protected beach for beginners throughout the year.

It is recommended to book the airport transfer well in advance, since the scenic coastal tour from George airport to Island Surf Villa takes about 2 hours and there is no regular bus or taxi service. The other alternative is to rent a car, something that we can arrange on request.
